Contrasting many of the monolithic football stadiums currently being designed and built, this concept for the Atlanta Falcons, attempted to streamline the form, reminiscent of European soccer stadiums more-so than traditional American stadiums. Wrapped in a shell that responds to solar orientation, a paneled facade gives way to a tensile fabric stretched over operable trusses, allowing the opening to dynamically morph depending on the event–ranging from completely closed as a translucent membrane to fully open at the size of the field below. The stadium is just one component within a larger mixed-use development plan to tie the stadium back into a new “Entertainment District.”
